Older book, science fiction. A hollow asteroid is found headed to earth. Inside is an abandoned city and a rail headed off into a seemingly endless tunnel. Turns out there is an advanced citydown the rail. All the advanced tech is based upon this paper written on theoretical physics dealing with alternate dimensions. Was cool and I cannot remeber the title or author.
